Hofner 457 Jazz Guitar 1953 - Description
Beautiful Hofner 457 made around 1953 - you can tell be the flared headstock and the purfling around the body.
The early 1950s Hofner archtops seem to be better made than the later ones: solid top with a stronger arch than later, higher quality finish, purfling etc.
This one is still 100% original and in great condition and didn´t even need a neck reset so far.
Playability is good, the neck straight and it sounds alive!
Work done: glued and cleated a little crack in the top (that is how you know it is solid ;), smoothed the fret ends & polished the frets, slightly increased the holes in the tailpiece so the strings do not get stuck, setup work & tuners oiled etc.
